If you’re in Austin this weekend you know it's THE place to be for all things art, tech and most of all, music. Here are five kid-friendly concerts and festivals where you can hear some of today’s top music.
World Music, World Stories: The Hill Country Science Mill in Johnson City and OUTSIDE VOICE is throwig a “World Music, World Cultures” backyard concert today from 1 to 6 pm. Saddle up and head over now to enjoy an afternoon of global music, stories and culture in the Texas Hill Country. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket and settle in for a fun afternoon listening to Tribu Baharu from Bogota, Colombia, Grammy Award winning Los Texmaniacs from San Antonio, Analogix from Fukuoka-shi, Japan and Hanato Chiruran from Tokyo, Japan. South X San Jose at Jo’s Coffee of South Congress: A free festival with live music and local vendors are setting up shop in the parking lot at the San Jose Hotel every day through Sunday, March 19. Music starts at noon each day. Spare the Rock Spoil the Child: Austin’s Four Seasons Hotel is opening up its lobby lounge to families, tomorrow through Saturday, March 18, with a geared-for-kids line-up. The fun kicks off early—program runs from 8:30 to 10:30—so grab your coffee and head over to catch first-rate music. Up tomorrow, Austin-based "kindie" band The Que Pastas; Friday, Latin Grammy winners Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band; and Saturday family funksters Sugar Free Allstars. Rock + Read: The Domain: The lawn at the Domain is a big party today from 2 – 5:30 pm when Kid faves Que Pastas and Lucky Diaz & the Family Jam Band rock out in between story time sessions featuring local authors reading their own books. We Are One Kids, TOMS Austin: It's Day 2 of 3 days of parties happening at TOMS, with fun activities like drumming, yoga, and special music performances for kids from 1 to 3 p.m. If you come later, live music for all ages begins at 5:00.
