Friday marks the first day of one of the most anticipated basketball events of the year – the NCCA Final Four! If you live in the Phoenix area, or are in town for the big games, we’ve compiled some of the best ways for you to get in on all the March Madness this weekend with your family.
Reese’s Final Four Friday: Free and open to the public, Final Four Friday is a chance for families to check out each of the Final Four teams in their last open practice at the University of Phoenix Stadium before Saturday’s national semifinals’ tip-off. Doors open at 10, and from 11 until 2, each of the teams (South Carolina Gamecocks, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, North Carolina Tarheels) will take their hour on the court. Stick around for autographs from 1-2 and the Reese's' College All-Star Game from 3:30-5 for a full day of basketball fun.
NCAA Youth Clinics: Kids learn everything from how to work as a team and set goals to developing confidence and the importance of healthy lifestyle from NCAA coaches in these free clinics Friday at the Buick Arena in Final Four Fan Fest at Phoenix Convention Center. Participants receive a free T-shirt and more promotional items. Recommended for 3rd to 8th graders; pre-registration here. Clinics run from 4 – 5:15 p.m., Friday, March 31.
Ready, Set, Dribble: On Sunday at 11 a.m. basketball truly takes over the city as thousands of young fans dribble their balls through Heritage Square in downtown Phoenix for Ready, Set, Dribble. You won’t want to miss the spectacle as 3,200 kids dribble the 6-block route to the Final Four Fan Fest, where tons of family friendly activities are happening all weekend.
Final Four Fan Fest: For a weekend of jam-packed family friendly basketball events, check out Final Four Fan Fest at the Phoenix Convention Center. Take part in basketball and cheer youth clinics. Get autograph signings. Clamber up the rock climbing wall and/or get the whole family to pile into the extremely cool 360-photo booth. The festivities go on all weekend, so be sure to check out the daily schedule you and the kids won’t miss out any of the fun. More good news: kids under 12 get in free; adults pay just $10 for entry for all four days!
March Madness Music Festival: This free, family-friendly music festival goes on throughout the entire Final Four weekend with both local and national artists taking the stage Friday, Saturday and Sunday. With headliners including Keith Urban, Grouplove, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Aerosmith, March Madness Music Festival is a must-not-miss event at a beautiful venue—Phoenix’s beautiful Margaret T.
